Maintaining Your System Yourself
Regular maintenance is as important for your computer as it is for your home. You need to perform periodic updates and "cleaning". If you are a PASS™ member, you can assign this task to us through our optional MouseCalls™ Maintenance Plan, but if you choose to do this yourself, here is some guidance:
Perform Windows updates. Most of your systems should be setup to do this automatically but you can verify that the latest updates for Windows have been done by going to:
Start/All Programs/Windows Update and then follow the prompts.
If you've been doing this routinely you'll probably see a menu option for Microsoft Update, so -- Start/All Programs/Microsoft Update.
Regardless of which way you get there, select the "Express" option and follow the prompts. Reboot your system and repeat the process until you are told that there are no (further) updates for your system.
The next task to perform is to detect and remove spyware by running one or more of the many programs available.
We recommend installing and using Norton 360 (no longer System Works) regularly. Run One Button Checkup, twice. Perform a virus scan, once.
Finally, go to the PASS™ resource area if you are a PASS™ member, or to the Updates page if you are not and follow all the directions to fully update your NeuroCARE® software. (PASS™ always has the newest updates, so we suggest PASS™ members update in PASS™, not from the Updates page). If you have not updated in a while check the version of NeuroCARE® you are running and perform the updates appropriate to the version you are running.
