Technical Certification

NOW OFFERED ONLINE!

The solid base of our teaching rests upon our four-day Technical Certification course which is designed to familiarize you with the CARE™ approach to CNS functional transformation using tha latest Zengar NeuroCARE® software.  Its emphasis is on learning the practical skills necessary to effectively run sessions and interpret your data with your clients using NeuroCARE®.  Successful completion of this course grants the attendee Basic Zengar Certification. It introduces you to the major features of the latest version of NeuroCARE®, the off-line data analysis and the underpinnings of the theory upon which it is based.

Technical Certification in Zengar NeuroCARE®("Driving the Bus") This course is the basic, yet complete course for "how to use" the latest version of the Zengar NeuroCARE® software. Please be aware a working knowledge of basic Windows operations is always assumed and will not be assigned class time. This course is frequently repeated and integrated at a new level by students after 6mos-1 year experience of working with the approach. This course is designed for all who are interested in understanding and learning our CARE approach to CNS Functional Transformation Using Non-Linear, Dynamical Control Procedures in detail. The course will be heavily weighted to "hands on" demonstrations of proficiency in Zengar NeuroCARE®, Non-Linear, Dynamical and Joint Time-Frequency Analyses of EEG, and other fundamental concepts and procedures of the CARE™ approach. Successful completion of this course, including satisfactory demonstrations of all indicated skills, will allow participants to receive a certificate documenting technical proficiency in the CARE™ Approach. Please note that this course involves a technical certification and does not confer or indicate any particular ability, license, or qualification to provide any particular clinical service. All demonstration and practice will be based on the Zengar NeuroCARE® system; however, you do not have to be using Zengar NeuroCARE® to attend and benefit from this course. For Zengar NeuroCARE® users this course will be an opportunity for you to deepen your familiarity with and understanding of Zengar NeuroCARE®. You will learn the theoretical and practical underpinnings of non-linear, dynamical processes and how they are applied to facilitate effective and efficient clinical neurofeedback according to the CARE™ Approach. You will also learn how to use all of the features of the latest version of NeuroCARE®. Issues to be addressed will include, but are not limited to:

  • The differences between static, dynamic and dynamical thresholding
  • The role of automatic dynamical thresholding
  • The role of monitoring and feeding back changes in variability rather than just using amplitude-based measures
  • The role of dense, multimedia feedback in neurofeedback
  • How to actually see the changes that occur moment to moment during training before your client experiences the impact of those changes
  • The role of new and powerful data analysis techniques that will provide you with improved ways to visualize and recognize patterns in the client's EEG
  • Using real-time non-linear techniques to dramatically reveal shifts in client flexibility and resilience during training
  • Using new targeting presets (ZenX) for rapid transformation.

This will be achieved by didactic presentation, demonstration and discussion of the following topics, among others:

  • Navigating Zengar NeuroCARE®: Taking, reviewing and analyzing Journeys through the NeuroCare Matrix
  • Joint Time-Frequency Analysis (JTFA) for Real-Time and Off-line Analysis
  • Targeting Functions
  • Methods used and their differences
  • Modifiable parameters and their impacts including types of thresholding
  • Using Display Offset and Smoothing to enhance pattern recognition Return Mapping
  • Non-Linear, Dynamical Control Procedures: Theory and Practice
  • The role of Pareto's Rule in providing effective feedback and other technical heuristics of neurofeedback according to the CARE Approach
  • Effective Sensor Hookup and Signal Acquisition

This is offered as an on-line course. Materials will be taught in 90 minute segments with time for breaks and off-line time for particpants to perform their practica assignments. Practica assignments must be completed using the latest version of NeuroCARE®.  Hours of direct contact are 9am-12.30pm PST (12noon-3.30pm EST), with practica to be completed each day while off-line. Participants will view our presentations and real-time demos on their computer screens. Audio is via phone using our conference call number. Full information on accessing the technology will be sent prior to the course. Registrants will run sessions on themselves or a family member, and either send their data as an email attachment for review, or will demonstrate their data realtime on their system. Certification will be granted based upon attendance, participation, submission of pre and post session data showing a good hookup and an understanding of the major analyses used in interpreting data to clients.  Please note, submission of data for certification must be completed prior to the end of the last day of the course, so be sure to plan your schedule accordingly.
